About me: I'm starting my second year at IIT as an assistant professor of technical communication. I've taught courses here in Online Design and Knowledge Management.

My research interests are primarily in the areas of digital literacy and production; one of my more recent publications is The Lo-Fi Manifesto, which appeared in the online journal Kairos. (Kairos recently launched in a redesigned form, which I have been working on for the past year in my spare time.) I also have articles forthcoming on social media and microformats. This year, I'll be working on a book about writing and designing web pages.

I also maintain a blog, which I hope to be more active with this year, at karlstolley.com, which also links to my professional portfolio. Rumor has it I'm on Facebook.
